This roasted garlic butter recipe is one of the easiest ways to make just about anything taste even better. You only need 2 ingredients!

Bowl of homemade garlic butter.

This garlic butter recipe is rich and garlicky, but it’s a little different from your standard version because instead of using garlic powder or fresh garlic, it uses roasted garlic cloves. They add more of a mellow garlic flavor, with a note of caramelization that’s just so flippin’ delicious. Your homemade garlic bread never tasted so good! (Not to mention your buttered noodles and vegetables and everything else you're going to be slathering this on.)

Why This Garlic Butter Is a Staple Recipe

Whether you’re spreading it on crusty French bread to accompany your Instant Pot spaghetti, melting it to drizzle over steamed veggies, or adding a pat to steak, you’re going to want to keep this roasted garlic butter on hand always.

  • Easy to make. Once you’ve got the roasted garlic, just mix it with softened butter. So simple!
  • Mellow, nuanced garlic flavor. Roasted garlic adds a deep, slightly sweet richness that’s much less sharp than fresh garlic.
  • Instant upgrade for anything. Use it to make garlic bread, for veggies, the most epic buttered noodles, and more.

Variations to Try

Once you’ve mastered the base recipe, try these simple variations.

  • Add herbs. Mix in parsley, chives, rosemary, or thyme. Really, almost any herbs will work here! Fresh is best, but you can totally use dried too.
