Now more than ever my body is craving all things comfort food. From creamy oatmeals at breakfast, hearty stews for lunch, and rich casseroles for dinner, all I can think about is food that will stick to my ribs and wrap me up in a big food hug.

It's the kind of meals that take a long time to cook – that cook long and slow for rich flavor. But I have a gas stove and don't feel comfortable leaving my stove on all day long to get those flavors to develop properly.

And that's precisely where my slow cooker comes in!

I feel like whenever I make something in my slow cooker it always ends up being the ultra comforting kind of meal that I go to bed smiling about. The kind that's perfect for the winter. And the kind that freezes well so I can enjoy these tasty meals all week long.
