This Minty Melon Smoothie is a healthy green smoothie packed with nutrients for a quick breakfast. Kale, melon, and cucumber, with just a hint of peppermint.
Green smoothies are the best. They're my go-to healthy breakfast. They're an easy way for me to start my day with tons of greens, fresh fruit and veggies, they're perfect in the summer and they're so dang refreshing.
I'm all about creaminess with my smoothies. I like thick smoothies that I can slurp through a straw. Or that I can eat with a spoon. Even better if they can hold up with a little granola on top. For some reason, they are just more satisfying that way and I find them way more filling.
Today's Minty Melon Smoothie is not only the perfect texture, but it's also a really unique and fun flavor combo. It's light, healthy and a great way to use up some summer produce that might be hanging around!
Ultimate Green Smoothie Formula
My smoothies always start with a similar base – a combo that I really love – and probably doesn't seem that new to you:
- Spinach / Kale
- Frozen veg
- Frozen fruit
- Seeds (flax and/or chia usually)
- Protein Powder
- & a healthy fat
But lately, I've started experimenting with different spices too. With cinnamon and nutmeg as my preferred combo, it was time I started to branch out a little (especially with fall being right around the corner and this combo is in everything!).
I started slow, with ginger, cocoa and vanilla, but have slowly been moving in a riskier direction. Now I'm using things like basil, mint and almond extract, and you know what? It's delicious!
My Mint Melon Smoothie Ingredients
I'll admit, this green smoothie was totally inspired by the farmer's market. There was so much amazing produce that I went a little overboard and then ended up with some things that were about to go bad. And that's precisely where this melon smoothie came to mind.
Here's what I was left with:
- spinach
- cantaloupe
- fresh mint
I wasn't sure where it was going, but I tossed it into the blender with my favorite vanilla protein powder, a hint of cinnamon, half a banana and some flaxseed meal. WOAH. This smoothie is legit. So creamy, so summery, and it has the most vibrant green color!
This is the ultimate summertime smoothie! It makes a super refreshing afternoon snack and a perfect light breakfast. Hope you love it and much as I have been ????

This looks like my kind of smoothie! I have so much mint growing in my yard when I make my mint smoothies I throw a big handful of it in there, too! I love that you added cucumber in here too. So much goodness!
PS just found your blog today by way of Daily Bites and I am so excited, looks like you have amazing recipes! I just subscribed and will definitely be following along! Thanks!
Thanks, Beth! This smoothie would definitely be scrumptious with fresh mint. I’m happy you found me, I’ve checked out your blog many times and you have delightful recipes! Love the guest post on Healthful Pursuit today 🙂
This looks so good!! I don’t think I ever would have thought about melon and mint in a smoothie but this would be perfect for the mornings while it’s still a little warm out.
And to get inspired by your CSA! We’ve been toying with the idea of joining one for ages, I’m jealous you have so many vegetables to play around with!
Thanks, Ruthy! I was surprised how good the combo was. I think the cucumber added a lot to make this smoothie light and yummy. If you’re considering a CSA for next year, I HIGHLY recommend it. This was our first year doing one and it’s been great. You get to taste so many veggies that you wouldn’t otherwise buy at the store. I definitely found some new favorites this summer!!

How much melon do you use? I’m not seeing it in your ingredient list.
Wow, thanks for the catch. There was a typo in the recipe! It should have said cantaloupe instead of pineapple. It’s all fixed now, thanks 🙂
I’m a smoothie fan as well, I love how much nutrition you can pack into them.
Couldn’t agree more Sylvie! I absolutely adore green smoothies in the morning.

It’s the bomb! The only thing I didn’t put is the flaxseed.
You can definitely leave out the flaxseed! I’m glad you enjoyed it!!
