This chocolate strawberry smoothie is tastes like chocolate-covered strawberries! It's a rich, creamy, antioxidant-packed smoothie packed with frozen strawberries, cocoa, and coconut water, and hemp seeds to make it filling.

When I need a fast and delicious breakfast, I make smoothies. Classics like this peanut butter banana smoothie, tropical stawberry mango smoothie, and my favorite green smoothie are on constant rotation on weekdays. This chocolate strawberry smoothie tastes rich and creamy, but it's packed with wholesome ingredients and keeps me full all morning. Fresh or frozen strawberries, cocoa, coconut water, and almond milk create a rich base, bulked up with hemp seeds. I added zucchini for a veggie, since it's mild flavor blends right in with the rest of the smoothie.
Who else is a big fan of smoothies that taste like dessert? Try my carrot cake smoothie, chocolate peanut butter smoothie, and mint chocolate chip smoothie next.
Why This Chocolate Strawberry Smoothie Is On Repeat
Smoothies are one of my favorite breakfasts in the world. I think they're an awesome way to get in a TON of nutrients, while also having something that's quick, easy to make, and totally portable.
- Under 10 minutes. Add everything to the blender, and go!
- Sneaky veggies. I like to add vegetables like zucchini and cauliflower to bulk up my smoothies.
- Dessert for breakfast. And, this smoothie tastes just like a chocolate-covered strawberry. I'd say the perfect, guilt-free morning treat

Chocolate Strawberry Smoothie Ingredients
I wanted to pack as many “super foods” into this smoothie recipe as possible.
- Zucchini – Zucchini is a great ingredient in smoothies as it bulks up the smoothie and adds creaminess without impacting the flavor. It's similar to using cauliflower rice in my blackberry smoothie (plain cauliflower rice also works in place of zucchini here, if needed).
- Frozen strawberries – Frozen berries help thicken the smoothie and chill it down. You could use fresh strawberries instead.
- Cocoa powder – I recommend unsweetened cocoa powder. If you wanted to boost the chocolate flavors even more, blend in a handful of cacao nibs.
- Hemp seeds – You could replace the hemp seeds with your favorite vanilla or chocolate protein powder. Use plant-based as needed.
- Coconut water – Super hydrating with a lightly sweet flavor. You can buy coconut water. Or, skim the thick, creamy part from a chilled can of coconut milk and use the leftover liquid in the smoothie. Use the coconut cream to make coconut whipped cream!
- Almond milk – Or your choice of dairy or non-dairy milk.
- Vanilla extract – Optional, but I love adding a little extract or vanilla paste to deepen the flavor.
